Opportunities

Dr. Rothenburger welcomes students and trainees interested in wildlife health, disease ecology, pathology, and One Health research. Her work focuses on understanding how disease moves across the interface of wildlife, domestic animals, people, and the environment through collaborative and applied research.

Working With Dr. Jamie Rothenburger

Students in Dr. Rothenburger’s research group gain experience in wildlife disease investigation, pathology, epidemiology, laboratory diagnostics, and scientific communication. Trainees work within a collaborative research environment at the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine alongside graduate students, veterinarians, and researchers focused on wildlife health and emerging disease threats.

Graduate Opportunities in One Health and Emerging Zoonoses

I am seeking highly motivated students to join a One Health research program at the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine focused on wildlife associated zoonotic diseases. These research positions (MSc and PhD levels) will enhance understanding of the sudden emergence of Echinococcus multilocularis (EM) in Alberta, a zoonotic tapeworm that now threatens the health of wildlife, domestic dogs and people.

Undergraduate Student Opportunities

Interested students should contact Dr. Rothenburger in the Fall of 2026 for summer 2027 positions.
